3 Fun Outdoor Activities You Can Drive to Near East Brunswick, NJ

1. Youth Fishing Derby

The whole family can enjoy a morning on the lake at this fishing contest for ages 5 to 15. Kids don’t need fishing permits to enter the event, but they will need to bring their own fishing equipment. Volunteers will be on hand to help out the contestants as needed with equipment set-up and checks, fishing lessons, and educational information.

The annual Youth Fishing Derby will take place on June 3 at Dallenbach Lake, 380 Dunhams Corner Road in East Brunswick. Plan to park at the Crystal Springs Parking Lot. The fun starts at 8 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. This free public event is a collaboration between East Brunswick Recreation & Parks, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and the NJ Department of Fish and Wildlife.

2. Pick-Your-Own at Giamarese Farm and Orchards

You can enjoy fresh produce you pick yourself, available May through September at Giamarese Farm and Orchards. June’s offerings include asparagus, strawberries, peas, and lettuce.

While you’re grabbing whatever happens to be in season, don’t forget to stop in the store. We love the fresh salsa, jams, and pickled veggies. You can also pick up fruit and veggie plants to bring home for your own garden. This family-owned farm has operated for more than 70 years at 155 Fresh Ponds Road in East Brunswick. It’s open 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

3. Middlesex County Fair

You can also enter the home arts show to show off your crafting, sewing, baking, and other domestic skills. Finish off the day by visiting the wide variety of food stalls and vendors.
