The Acura ZDX’s all-electric engine boasts enough power to blow most combustion engines out of the water. The standard rear-wheel drive A-Spec edition features a single motor that generates 358 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque. Upgrading to the dual-motor all-wheel drive version bumps the horsepower up to a whopping 490 horsepower and 437 pound-feet of torque.
The ZDX’s acceleration is zippy. In testing, it went from zero to 60 in 5.5 seconds on the baseline rear-wheel drive model, and the all-wheel drive’s made it to 60 in an incredible 4.3 seconds.
Battery, Range, and Charging
With a 102 kWh lithium battery that uses General Motors’ Ultium battery technology, the ZDX has an impressive range of 313 miles on a full charge. Because the dual motors draw more power, the all-wheel drive editions have slightly lower ranges of 304 miles and 278 for the Type S performance trims. The ZDX charges at a rate of 29.4 miles per hour on a 240-volt Level 2 AC charger and 81 miles in 10 minutes on a DC fast charger.
Exterior and Interior
The compact SUV’s external styling is exquisite, with an illuminated seamless pentagon grille, Jewel Eye LED headlights in the front, and Chicane LED taillights in the back. Inside, there are two rows of Milano leather-trimmed power seats that comfortably seat five riders. In the A-Spec trim, only the front seats are heated and ventilated, but this feature extends to the back row in the Type S. Automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof are standard.
Amenities and Safety Features
The ZDX features a large 11.3-inch color touchscreen display compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That’s plugged into an 18-speaker premium sound system by renowned Danish high-tech electronics maker BANG & OLUFSEN. It’s also equipped with a range of innovative safety features, including pedestrian detection, automatic braking, and blind spot assistance.
