Acura’s newest addition to its model lineup is set to shake up the EV world. It will set the president for Acura’s brand in the coming decades. Originally teased as the Precision EV Concept, we now are getting an up close look at Acura’s new design direction going forward. Developed around GM EV architecture, the new 2024 Acura ZDX will be sporting the GM Ultium battery. This is the same system other vehicles from GM and Honda will be using in the coming years. This partnership comes as Acura will be leading Honda into the EV realm. The ZDX will be built and assembled by GM at its Springfield, Tennessee plant. Acura is expecting to bring additional Electric vehicles to market using their own e:Architecture as early as the 2026 model year. These vehicles are the first of many EVs to come from Acura. They aim to have a completely, battery electric or fuel cell electric lineup by 2040. This ambitious goal runs alongside Acura’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050 for all corporate activities.
The new ZDX, shares a name with the previous ZDX debuted in 2010, both designed at Acura Design studio in, Los Angeles. Acura pays homage to the original ZDX, the first vehicle designed in the studio that opened in 2007. Using sustainable, premium materials in construction, the ZDX is sure to be the most environmentally responsible Acura released to date. Biomass leather, recycled marble and sustainably sourced steel and aluminum are some of the materials we can expect. A rear mounted motor will deliver 340HP to the rear wheels in the base model. A Type S trim of the ZDX will offer a very capable 500HP available in AWD. The Type S will be centered more around the driving experience Acura’s Type S trim level has come to be known for. ZDX’s interior will be driver centered with curved screens and an extremely modern appearance. No images have been released for the 2024 ZDX’s production interior unfortunately at this point. We can only speculate until we get to see what Acura has in store. Be sure to keep up with Open Road Acura of East Brunswick for updates on the incredible new 2024 Acura ZDX!
